Ask a true Texan, and they’ll tell you everything is bigger and better in the Lone Star State. Bigger, because Texas is vast – 268,597 square miles vast to be exact. It would take the average driver at least 12 hours to drive from Orange, TX in the east to the state’s western tip in El Paso. And better, not so much as a matter of arrogance, but more as a known fact. Texans have an intense pride and love for their state born out of decades of hard work by immigrants and settlers who paved the way for Texas to be what it is today. Hotel magnate Conrad Hilton may have perfectly captured the spirit of Texas when he said:
“There’s a vastness here and I believe that the people who are born here breathe that vastness into their soul. They dream big dreams and think big thoughts, because there is nothing to hem them in.”
